American Legion Auxiliary Scherrman-Peterson Post 656
The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest women's patriotic service organization with nearly 1 million members in 10,100 communities. They educate children, organize community events and help our nation's veterans through legislative action and volunteerism.
The American Legion Auxiliary Scherrman-Peterson Post 656 is made up of 160 adult and junior members from Farley and the surrounding area.
Annual activities include:
- Assembly of fruit plates for senior citizens in Farley at Christmas;
- Memorial Day poppy drive;
- Operation of poppy poster contest at schools;
- Creation of holiday cards by junior members for the VA Hospital in Iowa City;
- Participation in Julyfest and Young Men's parades;
- Contribution of money to the Veteran's Home in honor of the Gold Star Sisters in their unit:
- Operation of a lunch stand for the annual Babe Ruth Tournament and preparation of the Queen's banquet;
- Cook and serve food at Farley's Community night and at the Legion county meeting; and
- Donation of money toward the renovation of Farley Memorial Hall.

First Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the American Legion meeting room.
